(A is for Audience)The mission of The Redundant Theatre Company Theatre is to produce innovative, contemporary theatre that challenges and stimulates our audience and ourselves by focusing on interconnected short works and by forging new relationships between the audience and the actors. As we understand it, the theatrical event is the visceral experience that exists somewhere between the audience and the actors. Sometimes it is a fleeting moment − a spark of recognition and connection. Sometimes it is simply the excitement of being a part of something bigger than oneself. That experience must be one of the draws of live theatre; it is certainly one of the most exciting departures from the actor/audience model we are used experiencing while watching TV, or even at the movies. Live theatre, for TRTCT, represents something different in the way that the audience is considered, cared for, and integrated into the theatrical experience. (A is for Actors)
Part of that exploration means that we make every effort to meet our audience at our shows, but for now, let us introduce ourselves. Graham Hackett: Tightly wound ball of action. Really packs a punch. Fingers in pies? Hardly. Think underpaid pastry chef who lines his ovens with tempered chutzpa because he loves the way it smells under pressure. Rebecca Morris: Fierce and Fiery. Cool and calm. Attacker, resolver, force to be reckoned with. Keep looking around corners; she'll be there. Bring a friend for safety and tea. Utterly disarming. Is that good? Rain Newcomb: Among the sharper tools in the shed, the brightest crayons in the box. And she should be, having in fact personally designed the box. She based the design on ancient religious apocrypha, and accidentally invented colors that had no name. Willie Repoley: Don't let him fool you. Or do. Who's to say which is which? When shuffling through stacks of unmarked paper late at night in bad light, he speaks in tongues. But never aloud - too obvious. Todd Weakley: Refuse to be taken in by his sure-fire, smooth-sailing, cucumber-cool façade. You know the whole story. You see the whip-sharp weather patterns of hope and action lying like fire in wait. You see, and yet. Who can be prepared for that? TRTCT's intrepid and invaluable guest artists/co-collaborators have included: Lachlan Smith, Erinn Nelson, Carla Farson, and Caitlin Rose. We want them all back. The mission of The Redundant Theatre Company Theatre is to produce innovative, contemporary theatre that challenges and stimulates. |
